California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE)

Program description
Provides eligible low-income households with a 20% discount on their monthly natural gas bill through participating utilities such as SoCalGas. Electric utility customers may also receive a 30–35% discount on their electricity bill, depending on their provider.
Maximum assistance
20% discount on natural gas bills.
30–35% discount on electricity bills (depending on the electric utility).
